There's a new Steam Deck in town.

Valve's powerful portable gaming PC has been a big hit with gamers since its 2022 launch, but various comments by Valve employees led us to believe there wouldn't be a new model anytime soon. That turned out to only be half true; the Steam Deck 2 isn't here, but the Steam Deck OLED is very much here.

Yes, just like Nintendo did with the Switch OLED a couple of years ago, Steam has gone back to the drawing board a bit and remade the Steam Deck with a bigger and better OLED display. It launches on Nov. 16 with a 512GB model costing $549.99 and a 1TB model costing $649.99.

Aside from new display tech (OLED is widely considered better than LCD) and a new 1TB variant, there are a few other bells and whistles to note. The Steam Deck OLED's display is 7.4 inches, an upgrade over the 7-inch screen on the LCD model. It's also got WiFi 6E support and a new 50Whr battery (up from 40Whr on the LCD model). Valve says that will last between 3 and 12 hours on a charge, but of course, that really depends on what games you're playing.

Also, if you have wanted a Steam Deck for a while and don't care about LCD vs. OLED, the 64GB and 512GB LCD models are $50 off for a limited time, priced at $349.99 and $449.99, respectively. Doesn't get much better than that.
