If your New Year's resolution involves reading more books, you're overdue for a Kindle. Sure, e-readers aren't everyone's cup of tea, but they can certainly help boost your reading habits via sheer convenience. And thanks to the late 20222 release of the Kindle Scribe, you can even scribble in the margins and take notes as you read.

As of Jan. 8, you can pick up the Kindle Scribe for as low as $269.99 at Amazon and save 20%. Every configuration of the device is discounted, so you'll have your pick of the litter. If you don't mind using the basic pen (which is basically just a stylus), you can snag the 16GB version for only $269.99 (reg. $339.99 for $70 off). You'll have to dish out a bit more for the premium pen: the 16GB version is on sale for $294.99 (reg. $369.99 for $75 off). If you want more storage, the price jumps to either $309.99 for 32GB ($80 off) or $334.99 for 64GB ($85 off). These aren't quite the lowest prices we've seen on these models, but 20% is still a pretty significant discount for the Scribe.

As Mashable's Alex Perry noted in his review, the Kindle Scribe is not a perfect device. However, it does manage to bridge the gap between traditional reading and e-reading by offering a stylus to mark up books to your heart's content. "Regardless of which pen you choose, using it is pretty straightforward. When reading a book, tap or drag to highlight a text passage, then tap “Note,” to leave a hand-written sticky note you can open or close at any time by tapping whatever you had highlighted." Easy peasy.

The Scribe also offers a notebook feature, which is essentially just a digital space where you can journal, sketch, take notes, and more. Artists looking to doodle digital masterpieces will probably want to look the other way. This device is designed for note-taking readers.
