'Ezra' trailer promises a deeply moving father-son road trip

Road trip films feel like a dime a dozen, but Ezra promises more heart than most.

With a new trailer dropped Wednesday, the film sees Bobby Cannavale as Max, a stand-up comedian living in New York with his father Stan (Robert De Niro). He's co-parenting his son Ezra (William Fitzgerald), who has autism. Max and his ex-wife Jenna (Rose Byrne) process difficult news about their son, and Max finds himself with a booking on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in LA, thanks to his manager Jayne (Whoopi Goldberg). So, Max takes Ezra head across the country on a road trip that promises more than a few moving moments. What's best for Ezra? Max, Jenna, and Stan all have their own ideas.

Written by Tony Spiridakis and directed by Tony Goldwyn, Ezra premiered at last year's Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). It's finally headed to cinemas on May 31.
